We’re feeling nostalgic again today so we decided to bring you a good and oldie – we’re going to take a sneak peek at Princess Diana’s fashion history.
Firstly, we have to admit that we love the idea of royal families in general… I guess it’s partly to do with growing up watching Disney films, partly to do with the fact that we know a princess like Diana would have had some mad secrets. Can you imagine if you knew all of them?? We bet your head would explode.
Secondly, we love royal fashion – analysing the way royals dress is somewhat fascinating don’t you think? Every time we watch them on TV we think, oooooh so this is what a Princess should dress like, or ooooooh, is that appropriate??
Thirdly, in the words of Rihanna, ‘Princess Diana was gangsta with her clothes’.
That, she was…
Before you get confused, no, she did not wear New Era caps or Air Jordans with a massive bling chain around her neck. She was definitely a fashion rebel however (the first of her kind in terms of modern royals as far as we know). And we love us one of those. Diana used to push the fashion boundaries not just in view of her status; she used to push fashion boundaries even for the likes of you and me. She just had her own style which we admire, especially coming from someone who was most probably constantly dictated what to do and how to behave. Obviously that may be a bit more difficult to see now given that fashion has much changed since then, hence things which were totally new at the time are now uber old news and far from ground breaking. So bear that in mind before judging.
Finally, style aside, Diana was unique and knew how to stand up for herself. Girl power ladies!
And enjoy the retro!
It’s all about Vichy patterns, polka dots, tartans, sequins and velvet… we LOVE it!
The more daring it is, the better!
